We wouldn’t be Viral Fashion if we didn’t bring our pick of the top stories going viral these days, bronchitis so as a slightly different edition of the Viral Buzz, we proudly present our Music News. Read on for this month’s stories that made us laugh, gasp, and as per Johnny Depp, contemplate divorcing our spouses. (see below)

Chris Brown Drake fight at the W.i.P. NYC Rihanna Photo from Vibe.com

Though critics not-so-secretly have had it out for Chris Brown since he laid hands on ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, he has managed to hold on to his flourishing career. We were shocked to hear them collaborate again on songs like “Turn Up the Music”, but even more scandalous was the news that Chris Brown had gotten physical with yet another music star; Drake. MTV.com has the story on Chris Brown and Drake’s fight on June 14th at downtown NYC club, the W.i.P.. Though there is no concrete evidence that the fight was sparked over Rihanna, it’s a Twilight-esque idea to entertain that two of the biggest names in the R&B/Rap world would throw bottles and punches for that “cake, cake, cake.” By June 18th, Senior Editor for US Weekly, Ian Drew, and Wendy Williams had some comments following up on the story, catch the video here.

fiona apple new album the idler wheel new music video every single night viralfashion.com

Possibly the most exciting news in hipster circles this month had nothing to do with a new Apple product or vegan eatery, but that Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter Fiona Apple was releasing her fourth album after a seven-year musical silence. On June 19th, fans rushed to purchase the album, whose incredibly long title (The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do) proved a tongue-twister for even the most talented of fast-talkers, comedian Jimmy Fallon. The album is an exquisite collection of lively songs with Fiona’s signature eccentric mix of piano rock and cabaret influences. A curious music video for her first single off the album, “Every Single Night,”  involving a squid, snails, and a brain, can be viewed here on her website. She might be a self-professed “criminal,” but The Idler Wheel… is proof she should break the habit of detaining her music for long stretches of time.

The robust voice featured on Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” for all of thirty seconds belongs to Kimbra, a New Zealander whose pipes are best heard on her own work. This month Nowness.com released a video of the artist performing “Settle Down,” a track that’s layered and looped with Kimbra’s beatboxing (yes, you read that right- beatboxing) and jazzy, acrobatic vocals. With two mics and an iPad, Kimbra creates a live version of “Settle Down” that’s just as infectious as her collaboration with Gotye, minus the depressing, bitter lyrics.

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis breakup news 2012

The biggest news this month may not actually be music-related, unless you count in the fact that Vanessa Paradis is a singer. Johnny Depp and longtime partner, Vanessa Paradis, are calling it quits after 14 years and two children together. According to US Magazine and US Weekly, Depp’s representative has stated that amongst rumors of a breakup, the couple is indeed separating.

All my single ladies, Johnny Depp is currently residing in LA.

With a provocative album title and the fever for more of Adam Levine spreading, yesterday’s album drop isn’t the only news we’ve got for you. According to MTV.com, the Maroon 5 frontman and judge of The Voice will be cast in Season Two of hit FX horror series, American Horror Story. For all of the fans feigning more of Adam after his brow-raising attempt to raise awareness for testicular cancer in UK’s Cosmopolitan, hang in there ’til Season Two drops. According to MTV, Mr. Levine will be playing one of “the lovers,” and we’re thinking that means a very slim wardrobe.
