BEAUTY BUZZ | NARS Guy Bourdin Collection Holiday 2013

Hot on the heels of last year’s eagerly anticipated and oh-so-fun NARS Andy Warhol collection — a massive Holiday 2012 release that saw founder Francois Nars taking his inspiration from Warhol’s art and the legendary Silver Factory scene he surrounded himself with for a lineup of exciting new colors and limited edition gift sets — comes news of the Holiday 2013 release, this time inspired by the work of iconic French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin. Given that Bourdin’s surreal, sensual and subversive imagery is almost as well known for the signature makeup look his models wore as it is for it’s lurid sense of color and perverse compositions, this collection makes only too much sense. Not surprisingly, Nars has tapped into the lurid colors and hi-glam sexuality of Bourdin’s photographs for his 17 piece color collection — 16 brand new colors, 1 very apropos repromote of the brand’s striking “Exhibit A” blush — and 8 glamourously packaged gift sets. Packed with holiday-ready reds like the brand’s new Cinematic Lipstick formula in “Future Red” and “Short Circuit”, scandalous purples like “Rage” and “No Limits”, and feminine neutrals like “Mississippi Mermaid” and “Day Dream”, the collection is perfectly suited to dramatic looks that demand attention. The other end of the collection comprises a slew of gorgeously packaged gifting items emblazoned with some of Bourdin’s most memorable images, including the “Crime Of Passion” face palette and lip gloss, the “Voyeur” eyeliner quintet and the six-color “One Night Stand” blush set, including the brand’s legendary “Orgasm”. Between the highly collectible makeup pouchettes and some brand new colors included in the sets, we can’t wait to get our hands on them. Better mark your calendars now, because the NARS Guy Bourdin collection hits shelves starting October 15th at NARS boutiques and, while the limited edition gift sets debut on November 1st. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
