What was black, medicine white and red all over? The dresses on the 2014 Golden Globes red carpet, bronchi that’s what. More so than any other year in recent memory, the color of the night was every conceivable shade of red, from Lupita Nyong’o’s stunning lipstick red Ralph Lauren — complete with a floor-grazing cape — to Best Actress winner Amy Adams’ two-toned v-necked Valentino, Taylor Swift’s cerise Carolina Herrera ballgown, and Emma Watson’s avant garde (by red carpet standards, anyway) backless scarlet dress-over-pants look by Dior. Not in red, although just as radiant, other standouts included Naomi Watts in a slithering silver Tom Ford column, Zoe Saldana in a midi-length, multi-embellished Prabal Gurung sheath and Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in a white micro-lace Proenza Schouler.
