With regard to red carpets, there are few that are more glamorous, exciting or stylish than The Met’s annual Costume Institute Gala. Even the Oscars — that penultimate awards show — is eclipsed by what Vogue magazine has dubbed “The Party Of The Year”. With the fashion industry in overdrive preparing for this year’s gala, which is devoted to legendary Anglo-American couturier Charles James, we naturally got to wondering about who will be wearing what on May 5th, as well as reminiscing about some of our favorite looks from years past. From Nicole Kidman’s crystal-encrusted nude Tom Ford for Gucci column at 2003’s Goddess themed gala, to Miley Cyrus’ fishnet Marc Jacobs gown at last year’s Punk event, we’ve rounded up some of the most memorable, entrance-making and theme-appropriate ensembles of the last ten years to get you in the mood for this Monday’s onslaught of glitz and glamour.
