If you’ve noticed that crisp bite in the air, it can only mean one thing. Yes folks, it’s just about that time of year when hordes of style-starved shoppers descend en masse to their nearest H&M store, armed and ready to snatch up the fast fashion chain’s latest designer collection. This year’s collaboration, designed by Alexander Wang, has all the makings of a blockbuster; a designer beloved by the fashion crowd, an instantly recognizable logo and street-ready, athletic-inspired pieces that seem bound for cult status. Bits and pieces about the collection have been trickling out, offering those hungry for a piece (or twelve) a glimpse of what’s to come which includes bona fide sporting goods like boxing gloves, yoga mats and ski goggles. Today the first official campaign images have dropped, adding fuel to the fire of anticipation. Photographed by Mikael Jansson and starring supermodels Joan Smalls, Raquel Zimmerman and Isabeli Fontana alongside kickboxer Rivaldino dos Santos and soccer player Andy Carroll, the dramatically lit campaign amps up the collection’s sportif mood and offers a very clear view of the vision behind it. The athletic influence should come as a surprise to no one given Wang’s predilection for sports and sporty elements — not to mention his recent Spring 2015 collection that was inspired entirely by sneakers — but we will say that we’re surprised to see just how far that sporty thread was taken. A soccer ball and shower flip flops — both likely to sell out if you ask us — are definitely a first in the list of designer collections that the fast fashion giant has produced. Of the pieces shown we’re loving the the bandage dress, the duffle bag and the hockey jersey, and that list is sure to grow once images of the full collection become available. Time to get your game face on, because the Alexander Wang x H&M collection hits H&M stores and H&M’s website on November 6th.
