Forget what you thought you knew about handbags because this season, handbags are all about graphic prints and patterns, bold colors, stripes, embellishments, and designs. The muted handbags that are commonly used on a daily basis have some major competition, thanks to the statement-making bags designers have been coming out with. Edgy chain embellishments and explosions of color were recently seen at Stella McCartney and Louis Vuitton. The bold color trend continued at Gucci and Marc Jacobs, where the brightly colored hues were almost impossible to ignore (and to not covet). Prints were popular at Lanvin, who chose stars as the pattern of choice, while Bottega Veneta stuck with Middle Eastern-inspired prints. With prints trending right now, it’s only natural that animal prints make an appearance or two, and that they did. Alligator skin was the choice print of Prada, whereas classic snakeskin received a modernized makeover via interesting colors and floral appliqués at Fendi. The floral trend continued at The Row and Miu Miu, with the designers each putting their own spin on the popular pattern.

Ready to jump on the bold handbag bandwagon? The key is to finding a patterned or printed handbag that coordinates with your outfit. Long gone are the days of “matchy-matchy” so as long as the colors in your bag go well with your outfit, you’re on the right track.
