The Mixology Mashup: Part Two

Coppelia NYC Restaurant Mixology Mashup

After three weeks of intense competition, Coppelia’s Mixology Mashup has produced three winning cocktails from some of the most experienced mixologists in the business.

With a new liquor and secret ingredient each week, we’ve already seen eleven mixologists take on the challenge of preparing a new and original recipe for a judging panel comprised of members of SAVEUR magazine’s editorial team, the Wild Hibiscus Co., and special guests like chef and owner of Yerba Buena, Toloache, and Coppelia, Julian Medina. Competitors were judged on flavor, presentation, and use of the secret ingredient.

On week two of the competition, mixologist Israel Nocelo took the prize for his take on a cocktail involving mandatory use of the secret ingredient, blood oranges, and the liquor of the night, Herradura tequila.

On the third night of the competition, a new group of mixologists battled it out for the winning cocktail using mango as the secret ingredient, and El Dorado Rum. Trevor Roberts of The Parlor took the night in a tight race, and his recipe, Israel’s, and first winner, Alejandro’s, will be featured on Viral Fashion’s Spotlight story next Friday along with the final winner.
